Hello all. I know that this may greatly disturb some people here, but
if the owners of this program do not respond to queries and seem to
care not whether any more profit is gleaned from this game, then...

1. Get yourself a hex editor (there are plenty for free on the net).
2. Backup your stars.exe file.
3. Open stars.exe (J patched) into the editor.
4. Jump to the offsets provided below, changing the old values for
these new ones. DO NOT MAKE CHANGES IF THE OLD VALUES DO NOT MATCH THE
ONES I HAVE PROVIDED BELOW!!!
5. Save stars.exe and exit hex editor
6. Run stars. Enter any number/text for serial number EXCEPT A CORRECT
ONE. (I just inverted the code that checks for the correct serial.)

Offset Old New
0001209F 03 09
00014523 75 74
0001638D 03 09
00019F64 75 74
0002C059 03 39
0009ECEA 03 30

Good luck and good gaming.

Eric
